I’ll start this discussion with some details about two different DJ control interfaces, the RMX  Hercules and the Stanton Da Scratch SCS3 series. What I would like to see is your input on their pros and cons as  DJ and production gear. (Yes, you can use DJ controllers to make music!!!) Feel free to post up other gear and such as Im sure the community will appreciate it.

To start, both devices have templates available for major programs. I.E. Serato, Traktor, Virtual DJ, etc. All you have to do is load the template in your favorite DJ app then you are good to go. The Hercules is great because it has a professional quality good sound card and is sturdy with an aluminum case. Stanton has no audio interface but is light and compact with 3 separate chainable components (2 decks and a mixer). You do have to run another program in the background to gain access to the touch controller’s various modes i.e FX, EQ, Looping, etc. but the application uses minimal CPU just to translate data. Without the software running the device works great in any program that reads MIDI. In all actuality you could DJ with traktor, laptop, 1 (yes just 1 Da Scratch) and all your favorite music. The individual touch interfaces have the capability of 2 deck control and mixing. With the full 3 piece setup you can control 4 decks. =-)

Starting today, Monday July 12th 2010, ACEO Productions, nor any of it’s founders, will no longer put any recyclable aluminum can, paper, plastic or glass container in the trash. Just because Texas is not recycle-friendly does not mean that we have to follow. We will also actively reduce the amount that we will consume in an effort to reduce the small but very important carbon footprint that we as a small group of people leave behind. This is a concious effort to do something positive and giving with everything that we do. This is our mission and it is just realized in another form today with this post.

This is about respect among nothing else. We love the earth and all of the wonderful sights, sounds, people, and other matter that really matters in this world. You as an individual can join our effort to reduce but remember, you are your own true motivator and everything else is just a carrot.

A client brought her computer to me for cleaning and an issue with playing videos of any kind. Malwarebytes returned no results while Spy-Bot found several infections. This and some other strategic cleaning has made all malicious and related behaviours null and void. In the end, there was a lot of tracking and high-jacking software which oddly enough seamed tied to the video streaming sites performance.

How do we avoid these annoying infections. Some would say, “Get a Mac!” I would say just learn to use the internet. Many people believe that Macs are safer but the reality is that they are just less targeted. Yes, there are structural differences betwen the operating systems but if you learn the weaknesses, you can make them strengths and vise-versa

We will be recording a series of tutorials to discuss how to safely browse the Internet on any computer while maintaining whatever productive momentum you may have be it making music, fliers, videos, or any other processor intensive applications.
